What it detects
- Concealment
- Hand to pocket, sleeve or bag, and the posture that goes with it held over time.
- Product tampering
- Tags removed or packaging opened inside the premises themselves.
- Loitering
- Unusual dwell time in a sensitive area with no purchase interaction.
- Sweeping
- An unusual number of units of the same product taken in a single visit.
What you get when it happens
An alert on your phone or on the counter computer with the camera, the time and a sentence describing what happened. Not a generic alarm you then have to go and investigate. The point is not to chase anyone: it is for someone on the team to walk over and offer help, which is what actually deters theft and what you can defend to an inspector.
What it does not do
It does not recognise faces. It stores no video. It keeps no lists of people. It scores nobody and decides nothing on its own. It alerts a person, and the person decides. That distinction is what separates a defensible system from one that is not.
